This is the most versatile and one of the most widely applied 300 series stainless steels in the world. It is the basic 18/8 (chrome/nickel) steel, and has excellent forming and welding characteristics. The carefully controlled analysis of 304/304L enables it to be effectively and more severely deep drawn without intermediate heat softening. This characteristic has made it a dominant grade in the manufacturing of drawn stainless parts such as sinks, saucepans, and cutlery. It is readily brake or roll formed into a wide variety of other parts for use in the industrial, architectural, and transportation industries.
Corrosion Resistance: Excellent in a wide variety of corrosive media including hot petroleum products and steam combustion gasses.
Heat Resistance: Good oxidation resistance in intermittent service to 1600°F [871°C]. Continuous use of 304/304L in 800 – 1575°F [427 – 857°C] is acceptable, as it is more resistant to carbide precipitation, and often performs well in temperatures fluctuating above and below this range.
Heat Treatment: Solution anneal and quench – heat to min. 1900°F [1040°C] and liquid cool immediately below 500°F [260°C] for maximum corrosion resistance. This grade cannot be hardened by thermal treatment.

This grade is available in all flanges and fittings.
